DCA Cancer

In a recent article written by Kathleen Doheny on Webmd.com, we learn that there are 15 cancer symptoms women commonly overlook when going through their day-to-day lives.  Here’s a summary but you can find a link at the bottom for the full article.

  1. Unexpected Weight Loss (10 pounds or more in a month)
  2. Bloating (common symptom of ovarian cancer)
  3. Breast Changes (breast cancer)
  4. Between Period Bleeding or Other Unusual Bleeding (endometrial cancer)
  5. Skin Changes (skin cancer)
  6. Difficulty Swallowing
  7. Blood in the Wrong Places (such as in your stool or after coughing)
  8. Gnawing Abdominal Pain and Depression (pancreatic cancer)
  9. Indigestion (cancer of the esophagus, stomach, or throat)
  10. Mouth Changes (especially for smokers)
  11. Pain (pain is common however persistent pain or unexplained pain should be checked out)
  12. Changes in the Lymph Nodes (lymphoma)
  13. Fever (sometimes caused by blood cancers such as leukemia or lymphoma)
  14. Fatigue (another vague symptom that is common to the average busy-body.. but also a symptom of some colon and stomach cancers)
  15. Persistent Cough (prolonged coughs that last more than 3 or 4 weeks)

Many of these symptoms are common to daily living but it’s important to stop and focus on how you’re truly feeling.  Your body sends you messages in the form of symptoms, trying to tell you what’s good or bad.  If you have one or more of these symptoms that you are concerned about, see your doctor.
