A number of people have used the Contact Us feature of this website to ask why we post about famous celebrity deaths?
Trust us, this isn’t to depress or upset anyone. When someone famous dies of cancer it hits the headlines around the world. It’s shocking.. if it can happen to them, it can happen to us! Most of the time these “untouchable” figures live very public lives however when something like cancer hits them, it becomes a dark and quiet secret they keep until they can either no longer hide it, or you read about their death in the paper (or internet).
Our Cancer In The News section is meant to bring attention to the fact that everyone, famous or not, can be a victim of this disease. Cancer is not selective in whom it hits and attention needs to be brought to this disease and the fight against it.
When Michael J. Fox came out about his Parkinson’s Disease, he came out with a vengeance! His own personal fight became very public and he started a worldwide fight against the disease, raising millions with his foundation. Thankfully he doesn’t have cancer. Most of us have watched his battle and have become much more educated regarding his disease, and we’re thankful for that. Who has come out about their fight with cancer? The answer is very few.. and it became a quiet fight. Why? I wish we had the answer.
All too often cancer is a long and difficult battle that doesn’t end well, but there are so many treatments available now and the publicity surrounding them is almost non-existent. This website was created to notify people of a potentially life saving treatment for cancer. DCA (sodium dichloroacetate) has been proven time and time again in tests that it can reduce the size of cancer tumors by an amazing 70% in as little as a few weeks (in some studies).
Could this type of treatment have helped or saved some of these media idols we have loved but lost? Sadly we’ll never know.
